Welcome to The Sanctuary Within, where you will find my writings about spirituality, especially women’s spirituality, and information about my novel, The Temple of the Subway Goddess. I call the site The Sanctuary Within because, to me, the journey to our spiritual lives, to the Divine, and to one another, all begin by finding that place within us that is sacred and really coming to understand that we are sacred. To me, the Sacred Within is part of our everyday, modern life, though we can learn much from the goddesses and myths of the past, which is why this page is symbolized by the photo above of my friend Alice, descending into a subway station – or her deepest spiritual self.
If you would like to read about spirituality in general, click on Spirit on the menu above. Goddesses and Myths will take you to pieces about goddesses from the past as well as some new myths and some thoughts on ancient ones. Temple leads to information about my novel, The Temple of the Subway Goddess. You is where you can write about your own spiritual experiences.
The Sanctuary Within is one of a circle of websites with writings on spirituality and creativity.
You might wish to start in my “kitchen,” titled Goddess In a Teapot. This is where you will find my latest blog posts, news about publications , tea recipes, and a place to chat. It’s just like when you go in the back door to someone’s kitchen and sit down for a little tea and conversation.
You may wish to wander over to The Muse’s Cave, or “library,” next because here you will find writings about creativity and some portraits of creative women of past and present.
Finally, don’t forget my “attic,” which I call “Circle of Generations” because it is all about envisioning the future while honoring the past and celebrating women who are making a difference now.
If you go outside, you’ll find yourself in my “garden,” The Grove of the Queen Pine,” where you’ll find writings about nature and the seasons as well as some photos I’ve taken in nature.
In each place, you are welcome to share your own thoughts, ideas, and stories!
But for now, you are in my “Sanctuary,” so feel free to read, relax, and enjoy!
